Congratulations To Fereneze Juniors
Josh Beatt And Lewis Breslin

Josh Beatt (aged 15) and Lewis Breslin (aged 14) have been chosen to represent Scotland in the Scottish Under 16 squad. Both boys have been regulars in our Fleming Watson League team for the past 3 years and have represented Fereneze Golf Club at numerous national and local events.

Both juniors have also been selected for coaching organised by the Renfrewshire Golf Union and this year they made it through to the final of our Junior Club Championship with Lewis being successful.

We are of the view that this is a tremendous achievement for the boys and something that Fereneze Golf Club should be rightly proud off.

Book A Lesson With Scott Garrett -
One Of Britain's Top 100 PGA Teachers

Fereneze Golf Club Family BBQ 2012

The PGA was approached by Golf World at the end of last year with a view to putting together a feature on some of the professionals of Great Britain. The exposure of such a large article was naturally attractive – especially given the key messages Golf World are currently eager to promote – but they had to think carefully. Selecting some members over others is both difficult and sensitive. It was an opportunity they felt sure they should take up though, and it is nice to reward in this way the 100 pros who have shown such talent and dedication to teaching the great game of golf. Golf World used strict criterion for their assessment. They know there are many thousands more excellent PGA pros – these are merely a selection of them. That said, Golf World hope this will become a regular feature and that PGA pros will strive to be involved.

Formed in 1901, the PGA now has more than 7,000 members. This year, Golf World introduced their ‘Right Coach, Right Place, Right Time’ philosophy. They believe there is a coach out there to help every golfer play better – which most, if not all of us, would like to do. They hope this feature is one small way to reward those who have displayed notable achievement. Golf World hope other PGA pros will be inspired and try to be included in the next such list. Coaching has never been more important, to ensure participation levels rise as those in the game stay in it and newcomers receive the best possible welcome.

The PGA is committed to playing its part in that.

“Never missed a putt - sometimes it doesn’t go in...”

Expertise: Proven track record in coaching and motivation, including sports psychology

My Tip: Before you play, start by holing six putts from six inches. Then from further out hit a ball to the hole. If it misses, try to bump it with a
second. Vary lengths and lines. A ball is smaller than the hole, so the task is more difficult. When putting to a hole, it now looks easier to hole out.

Hunter's Bell

Fereneze Golf Club proposed Pro Shop

Many of the members will have noticed that over the past few weeks that numerous signs have been placed around the course, warning players to beware of players on adjacent holes. This was carried out to conform to Health and Safety and the clubs liabilities to members/visitors.

With this in mind, a decision was taken to have a bell placed on the 13th hole due to the blind tee shot. Hunters Bell was kindly donated to the club by Ken Hunter (father of Stewart Hunter, a member of the club who died suddenly in 2008) and Vice Captain Jim Stevenson, in Stewart’s memory.

Pictured above presenting the bell to Captain Peter Boyd, is Ken Hunter (3rd from right), Jim Stevenson and Stewart’s son Greg Hunter who is a junior member at Fereneze.

It is hoped that the bell will be in place, over the next week or two.
